Precision Plastic Machining
Over 40 Years of Engineering, Manufacturing & Machining Plastics For Industry
Experience, Machining Fluoropolymers and Advanced materials such as, PTFE, PCTFE, PVDF, TFM PEEK, PPS, Torlon, Vespel to America’s leading OEM’s.
It starts with sourcing high quality raw materials that meet ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485 or comparable quality standards. Machining high-cost complex components, zero defects are crucial to our customers’ parts. We utilize these capabilities to provide CNC turning and CNC milling of your precision seals, bushings, insulators, compressor components, or structural parts to your exact specifications.
Machined VS Molded Plastic Parts
In many instances, injection molding isn’t the best or only choice for fabricating plastic components. CNC plastic machining has many advantages worth considering:
- Greatest design change flexibility
- Greatest cost efficiency for smaller quantities
- No parting lines, ejector marks, or flash
- No draft angles are required
- Closest tolerances possible
- Lowest component stress
- Fastest turnaround time
- Low or no tooling cost
- Ease of producing features such as threads and undercuts
Precision CNC Turning and Milling of Machined Plastic Parts
Advanced provides complete support on your machined plastic components, from assisting in material selection, design for manufacturing and most efficient machining processes on our 2, 3 and 5 Axis machining centers.
Machining complex parts in advanced materials requires expert programmers, skilled operators and years of experience gained through tribal knowledge where you can anticipate internal stresses in plastics, shrink rates when plastic materials subjected to frictional heat during the machining process.
Plastic Machining of Advanced Materials Prototypes to High Production Capacity
PCTFE Machining
A fluoropolymer (Previous Trade Name Kel-F) Highest rated in Stiffness, dimensional stability, chemical resistance, radiation resistance and temperature range of -400F to +380F.
PVDF Machining
PVDF exhibits excellent mechanical strength and toughness, stiffness, high dielectric strength, abrasion resistance, creep resistance, high purity, chemical resistance temperature up to 300F.
PFA Machining
Perfluoroalkoxy (PFA), also known as Teflon PFA, is a versatile polymer with outstanding properties. Low coefficient of friction with excellent chemical resistance., Bio-compatible and good to 500F.
FEP Machining
FEP is a copolymer of hexafluoropropylene (HFP) and tetrafluoroethylene (TFE). FEP generally has the narrowest range of all fluoropolymers, with a lower limit of around -200°C to +205°C (-328°F to +401°F), has excellent optical clarity.
PTFE Machining
PTFE is hydrophobic and has one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. Commonly referred to by its brand name, Teflon®, PTFE is most commercially known for its role as an effective low friction seal material. Temperature range -450F to 500 +F
PEEK Machining
Polyetherketone (PEEK) is a high-performance thermoplastic material with excellent properties, including, service temperature of 480F continuous, excellent chemical resistance, dimensional stability, steam , water both fresh and salt water resistant.
PPS Machining
Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic with high-temperature resistance, dimensional stability, and excellent chemical resistance. It has a high melting point of 280°C and is rigid and opaque.
PIA Torlon Machining
Torlon PAI (polyamide-imide) is a high-performance thermoplastic with the following properties. Low expansion, maintains strength & stiffness at 500F excellent chemical resistance, high mechanical strength.
Nylon Machining
It’s also resistant to damage from chemicals and oil, and dries quickly. Nylon is soft and smooth, and has a low friction coefficient. It doesn’t absorb water, and has insufficient dimension stability.
Vespel Polyimide Machining
Vespel Polyimide is a high-performance polymer made to withstand extreme with temperature variations up to 800F offer low friction grades. It offers a high tensile (8,750 psi) and flexural (16,000 psi) strength at one-half the weight of metal.
PET Machining
PET has Exception chemical resistance, with good resistance to heat and low temperature.
Good electrical insulating power in hot and wet environments.
Good resistance to light, UV and weathering.
