Injection Molding

PEEK and FLUOROPOLYMER – INJECTION MOLDED

Injection Molding Facility

Polymer injection molding is the most economical process for specifying higher-volume plastic components.  We specialize in molding high-temperature PEEK and Fluoropolymers such as PFA, FEP, PVDF, and PCTFE parts.

We provide engineering assistance to optimize transitioning parts from machining to molding and DFM services.

Our capabilities allow us to mold lower quantities for complex parts in industries such as Aerospace and transportation and high production parts for Fluid Handling, Medical, and Appliance.

What is Injection Molded PFA?

Injection molding process: One of the most widely used manufacturing processes in the polymer industry is injection molding. It involves injecting molten material into a mold cavity under high pressure to obtain complex shapes precisely.

Let Advanced EMC Technologies provide material recommendations for our polymer injection molding process to optimize the polymer bushing or plastic bearing for wear performance.

From low to high temperature and moderate to high speed, Advanced EMC Technologies can specify the correct plastic blend to meet your criteria and provide lubricant-free service if required.

Injection Molded Polymer Parts

Fluoropolymer barrier properties are exceptional: They resist chemical, enzyme, and microbiological attacks while eliminating biodegradation issues. Aging is also minimal because fluoropolymers do not use any leachable or degradable stabilizing additives.

We also are experts in the plastic and polymer injection molding and machining of advanced wear materials in low friction, high temperature, and self-lubricating applications. The science of tribology is centered around knowing how materials wear, their coefficients of friction, and the PV limits of these polymers.

FLUOROPOLYMER MOLDING: PTFE • PFA • FEP • PVDF • PCTFE

Fluoropolymers are chemically inert and are considered pure polymers, containing no additives unless specified in customer specifications. Fluoropolymer barrier properties are exceptional and have excellent temperature resistance to shallow variations. They resist chemical, enzyme, and microbiological attacks while eliminating biodegradation issues. There aging is minimal because fluoropolymers do not use leachable or degradable stabilizing additives that could pose negative consequences.

What is PTFE? Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a synthetic fluoropolymer of tetrafluoroethylene known for its exceptional chemical resistance, non-stick properties, low friction coefficient, and high-temperature stability.

What is PFA? Perfluoroalkoxy alkane (PFA) is a modified form of PTFE that offers similar properties but can be melt-processed using conventional thermoplastic techniques like injection molding.

What is FEP? Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene (FEP) is a tetrafluoroethylene and hexafluoropropylene co-polymer with the same chemical resistance as PTFE and low friction properties.

What is PVDF? Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) has a high resistance profile with high thermal and mechanical strength and magnetoelectric properties.

What is PCTFE? Polychlorotrifluorethylene (PCTFE) is a chemical compound similar to PTFE. The main difference is the chemical structure with Chlorine in place of Fluorine is stronger and more rigid, with better mechanical properties than PTFE.
